Reyna Grande

Last night I had the opportunity to listen to distinguished author Reyna Grande discuss her experiences as a multilingual student and writer. She recounted her story about her family's immigration experience, her learning to express herself in both English and Spanish, and her ultimate lesson to us: to not write what we want to remember, but to write about what we wish to forget.

Ms. Grande's collection of works is beyond personal, filled with emotion, and important to the overall message of individual immigration experiences. It was amazing to attend her events in both Spanish and English and to be able to connect with and understand her ideas in both parts.

Ms. Grande ultimately encouraged us, the students to read and write profusely, and to persevere a she has in her fruitful career.
